Çağatay Çavuşoğlu, MD, is an Associate Professor (Doç. Dr.) of Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine at Mersin University, and part of a new generation of Turkish clinician-scientists reshaping how the medicine of aging is practiced and taught. He completed his training in geriatric medicine at Hacettepe University—Turkey's foremost center for the discipline—and has since built a research program at the frontier of the field.
His interests span sarcopenia, sarcopenic obesity, frailty, polypharmacy in older adults, and the metabolic biology of aging, increasingly framed within the emerging science of longevity—the pursuit not merely of a longer lifespan, but of a longer healthspan. A signature of his work is precision in measurement: he has advanced the comparative validation of sarcopenia screening tools in older adults with diabetes and pursues novel approaches to muscle and metabolic assessment, turning complex diagnostics into instruments usable at the bedside.
A sought-after voice in his field, Dr. Çavuşoğlu has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international congresses. He is also a dedicated educator and institution-builder—mentoring the next generation of physicians and leading efforts to found a national association uniting internal medicine and geriatric medicine. His mission is at once simple and far-reaching: to add not merely years to life, but life to years.
